5 Natural Ways to Care for Dry Skin
Simple but useful and effective tips to help restore dry skin smoothness and firmness.
1. Do not take a hot shower
Many of us love to take long, hot showers. However, frequent and prolonged exposure to hot water can harm your skin, disrupting its natural moisture level and causing irritation.
To prevent this, take a warm or cool shower and reduce the time for water treatments. Do not allow the skin to become wrinkled from prolonged exposure to water. So you protect your skin from overdrying and the loss of its protective function that proteins and fats perform.
It is also worth mentioning that a hot shower exacerbates skin diseases, such as eczema. In this case, even for healthy people, prolonged exposure to hot water may cause itching and peeling.
2. Use milk and honey
Typically, these ingredients are used individually in skincare products. However, the combination of honey and milk has a stronger moisturizing effect.
These products also have antibacterial and protective properties. And honey is even able to fight free radicals in the body, slowing down skin aging.
If your skin is peeling, make a cleanser from honey and milk. To do this, mix natural yogurt and honey in a 1:1 ratio and apply it on the skin with massage movements.
From the same ingredients, only in smaller quantities, you can prepare a honey-milk face mask. Apply the resulting mixture to the skin for 15 minutes and rinse with water. This mask promotes deep hydration of the skin.
3. Take a bath with oatmeal
A bath with oatmeal will make your skin healthy and beautiful. Scientists have found that oatmeal helps keep skin hydrated for a long time.
Grind 1-2 cups of dry oatmeal. Add the resulting powder to a bath of water and mix thoroughly. For greater effect, you can add a few glasses of milk.
You can take a bath with oatmeal twice a day for 15 minutes. It will make your skin smooth, soft and velvety.
4. Moisturize your skin immediately after water procedures
This will help prevent dry skin by retaining moisture in it. You don’t even have to buy a special moisturizer for this, because there are many natural alternatives.
For example, coconut oil applied immediately after a shower moisturizes the skin very well. Body heat will help absorb oil into the skin, but you can preheat the oil in the microwave in advance.
It is better to apply the product before bedtime and rinse it off in the morning. For best results, do it every day.
5. Exfoliate the skin
Exfoliating, or scrubbing the skin, is the process of removing old and dead cells. As a result, they are updated, and the skin looks healthier and more beautiful.
In addition, exfoliation helps moisturizers to be better absorbed into the skin and increases the duration of their exposure.
