Paleo Foods List
If you are new to the paleo diet you are probably wondering the most obvious question of what foods can you eat and which foods should you avoid then consider a paleo foods list. Simply put to make things easy you should consider whether the food was available to our stone aged ancestors.  Having said that there are many foods available today that are indeed nutritious and beneficial with our abundance and logistics of today it’s far easier for us to access many more foods without having to actually hunt and gather under our own steam. However, the choice is yours whether you want to follow the paleo diet exactly or you want to choose a more liberal approach.

One of the first in the paleo foods list is lean meat. Lean meats are full of protein and help your body achieve a more lean physique Steak and lean beef is the most popular in this diet. Also, lean poultry such as chicken and turkey are also encouraged. Eggs are also a beneficial food though you should limit yourself to 6 eggs a week to reduce any risk of cholesterol problems.

If you are a seafood lover then you will be pleased to hear lean fish meat is also encouraged as it was a staple in the diet of cavemen. If you don’t like seafood don’t worry there are so many other foods you can enjoy you will not miss out (be sure to get some nuts in your diet to get the essential fatty oils that you require) There is much fish that are encouraged in the paleo diet and it includes; halibut haddock, salmon, mackerel, snapper, striped bass, and tuna. Although you can consider any fish you can find at your local store, fair game for the paleo diet.

Fruits and vegetables are another encouraged food group in the paleo foods list. Regarding fruits, you can eat any fruit if you are on the paleo diet with no restrictions. With regards vegetables then again nothing is restricted except for potatoes. The reasoning behind this is that the potato is a newer vegetable and does not date back over 20,000 years. Also, it is full of calories and carbohydrates (specifically starch) for those wanting to lose weight it’s not the best bet.

The final food group in the paleo foods list is that of nuts and seeds. On the paleo diet, you can add most nuts and seeds into your diet. Nuts are especially good snacking food. Nuts contain many essential oils and vitamins. The nuts you can choose from include but are not limited to, cashews, chestnuts, pine nuts, nuts, almonds, pecans, pistachios, and macadamia.  With any nuts make sure you do not take the salted kind. As for seeds you can choose from sesame seeds, pumpkin seeds, and sunflower seeds.

We should watch out for a few food groups in the paleo foods list and these should be avoided.

Therefore steer away from:
  1. cereal grains
  2. dairy
  3. legumes
  4. starchy veggies
  5. fizzy drinks
  6. salty foods
  7. fatty meat
  8. any sugar
